How did you hear the Good News today? Next week’s collection supports the Bishops’ CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN (CCC). For more than 25 years, the CCC has been spreading the Gospel message locally and nationally on radio, television, in print, and on the Internet. It is only through donations from Catholic parishioners that the work of the CCC is possible. Please contribute generously to the Campaign in the upcoming parish collection. Half of the collection will remain in our diocese to fund local Catholic communication efforts. Visit www.CatholicCommunicationCampaign.org  for national program information.

PRAYER FOR MOTHERS

Loving God and Father in heaven, you gave mothers as gifts to us, to be our earthly caregivers on your behalf. In your Love, you grace them to give life and nourishment to us, your children, just as you give nourishment to your people by Word and Sacrament in Jesus Christ, Your Son.

Bless our beloved mother. Let the example of her faith and love shine forth and bear fruit in us. Grant that we, her family, may honor her always with a spirit of profound love and respect. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen. Holy Mother Mary, Mother of God, Model of all mothers, pray for us.

NEW HAMPSHIRE CATHOLIC CHARITIES: Miracles Happen Everyday Thanks to all who responded so generously to the New Hampshire Catholic Charities Annual Appeal here in our Parish. You are making it possible for Catholic Charities to fulfill its mission to bring programs and services that comfort, heal, and empower to people in New Hampshire who are in need. With your help we can assist people such as the man who lost his job at a local mill and is struggling to find work. He and his wife have already tried everything they can to cut expenses. Now they are at risk of losing their home…

If you haven't made your pledge or donation yet, it's not too late! To be truly successful, we need everyone to participate. Just fill out a Catholic Charities envelope and drop it in the collection basket. We will be sure to forward it to Catholic Charities. Remember that no gift is too small or too large. THANK YOU!

Our Parish Goal: $33,000

Current Amount Received: $9,960 to date. We have reached 30% of our goal.

SOME OF OUR THANK YOU NOTES FROM RECIPIENTS OF OUR TITHE:

Birthright of NH: Thank you so much for your generous donation of $400 to our organization. Your parish has been so supportive over the years. Sincere thanks from our Moms, babies and volunteers.

New Horizons: Your generosity is crucial to continuing our programs and services at New Horizons and Angie’s Shelter for Women. Although the warm weather has arrived, we remain busy assisting those in need. In the month of March, an average of 84 individuals stayed in the shelters, and 6,752 meals were served in the Soup Kitchen. Thanks to wonderful donors like you, we are able to help families while they work to get back on their feet financially after a long winter season.

Kid’s Cafe, Salvation Army: We are committed to being good stewards of the funds entrusted to us, and to serving the growing needs of our community’s less fortunate. Your gift will make a difference in the lives of the many individuals and families we serve each day....Currently our 50 different social programs and services help those without the available resources to meet the basic needs of daily life. Additionally, our Kids’ Cafe program, which is in its 12th year, provides a warm, nutritious meal to an average of 120 youth, four nights a week (five including teens on Fridays).

Please take a few minutes to read the thank you letter and newspaper article, found on the bulletin board, which tells about the Missionary Servants of Pope John Paul I, (done through Mother Teresa’s Sisters in Haiti). We tithed $500 in April, and will continue to support their good works.

SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER + MAY 4, 2008

On the Way...

First Communion is always a highlight in the yearly life of a parish. Not only have the parents, the catechists and the parish helped children to this day, but the First Communicants themselves seem so full of anticipation that it makes all of us proud and joyful. Our love and desire for Jesus Christ in the Eucharist is celebrated. These young children can now extend their own hands to receive Jesus in their lives. They understand that there is someone beyond their parents who loves them. They join older children and adults in the procession up the aisle. They are more on their own. Their relationship with Christ is less dependent on others. They begin to understand at the same time that the same Jesus binds us all together. The pastor and people of St. Peter Parish congratulate them and their parents and families. We also pray for them and encourage them that this first step is be the beginning of a long and deep friendship with Jesus Christ.

PARISH NURSE: Friday from 7:30-10:00 am.

Weekly Offertory: $5,676.35

NH Catholic Charities: Our Parish Goal is $33,000. Last weekend we received $7,865 in cash donations and pledges (36 families). We are 23% on the way to our goal. Thank you!!

Miracles Happen Everyday: NH Catholic Charities needs your support to continue to make miracles happen for those who are struggling in our state. Amy was a referral from one of the churches. She is a 20 year old young woman living at a local boarding house. Her mother had been helping her with finances, but recently told her she could no longer help her. An aunt also helped with occasional money gifts but could no longer do so. Amy was healing from an operation. Her employer would not hold her job until she healed. She applied for other jobs and was waiting to hear when she could start work at one of them. Meanwhile, her small savings was being spent on housing and food. Amy believed that she would be back to work within the week. She asked NHCC to help her with the rent. After calling several churches, we were able to get a small package together to pay for a week's boarding. Amy is able to stay where she is for an additional week, begin her job and begin to rebuild her life. Please give as much as you can so that when a person suffering finally finds the strength to reach out for help---it's there.

GROUP WORK CAMP: If you would like to make a donation to help our Group Work Campers, please make the check payable to St. Peter Church, note your envelope number, and your donation will be added to your weekly parish donation records. Thank you.

MAY IS THE MONTH OF MARY: We will pray the Rosary in church at 6:30 pm on Tuesdays, May 6, 13, 20, and 27.
