FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER + APRIL 25, 2010

On the Way.....In the event that St. Paul Parish is unified with St. Peter Parish, a significant milestone was passed last Tuesday evening at the meeting of the St. Peter Pastoral Council. St. Peter Pastoral Council, knowing and sensing the importance of this event in the life of both parishes, has, for the next two years, altered the regular replacement of members. Members of St. Paul Pastoral Council will fill the three vacancies. In addition I have forfeited my two personal appointments for the next two years to two other members of St. Paul Pastoral Council. The bottom line is that the Council will be comprised of 11 regular members for 2010-2011, 10 regular members for 2011-2012 and back to the 9 regular members for 2112-2013. Incoming members, all members of St. Paul Pastoral Council, are Annette Palermo, Mariane Robert, Rene LeClerc, Lionel Beliveau, and Normand Fraser. They join present members Kenneth Robinson, Mark Somerville, Kathryn Rogers, Tom Gregoire, Deborah Raiche, Linda Bouchard, and ex-officio members Jake Linxweiler and myself. The Council elected as its Officers for 2010-11 year:

Chair: Linda Bouchard Vice-Chair: Annette Palermo Secretary: Kathryn Rogers.

Our thanks and gratitude to our outgoing members for their service on the Council for the past three years: Mary Ann Moser, Marie King, and Yvette Beland.

Also On The Way...I will be away this week for a Convocation of all the priests of the Diocese of Manchester. There will be no Mass on Tuesday or Wednesday morning

PARISH NURSE: Friday from 7:30-10:00 am.

WEEKLY OFFERTORY: $6,030.

NH CATHOLIC CHARITIES: Miracles Happen Every Day Since 1945, NH Catholic Charities has responded to the needs of people from every walk of life in communities throughout the state. Our caring staff has comforted grieving families, held the hands of scared children, provided hope for families struggling through difficult times, and helped people through personal crisis. This year the call to help is stronger than ever, and Catholics Charities is faced with the challenge to answer. The annual appeal is a primary source of funding for Catholic Charities. It is through your generosity that we, as a diocese and parish community, can serve the less fortunate. Please give what you can to help our neighbors in need. You make miracles happen when you make a gift. Our parish goal is $34,500. You should have received a packet from us this week, which includes your labeled envelope. If you did not, there are extra packets at the entryways.

MANY THANKS from Shirley to those who helped with this large mailing!!! Mary Stevens, Sue Marineau, Debi Gardner, Sue Kopetz, Donna Kula and Jane Dubois.

SACRIFICIAL GIVING: Paul and Barnabas encountered both violent rejection and joyful acceptance of the message that they preached. We, too, may meet with mixed reactions when we use our gifts in the service of God. But, the Gospel assures us, the reward for those who follow faithfully is eternal life.

GROUP WORK CAMP BAKE SALE: This weekend April 24 and 25.

MONTHLY FOOD DRIVE: Our food drive next weekend is for St. Paul Church Food Pantry. Items most needed are: tuna, cereal, canned soups, and instant potatoes.

ST. PETER CHURCH WOMEN’S GUILD: Our next meeting will be held April 27th at 6:30 pm, Parish Conference Room. We will be having our "Pot Luck Supper" (rescheduled from February). We have a lot of business to discuss and hope all will be able to attend. We will also be choosing our meal for our end of the year dinner, which will be held at Holiday’s Restaurant on May 18. Please bring a check or cash to pay for your selection. Hope all had a lovely Easter and hoping to see all of you.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS: This time of year we receive forms from Catholic Schools regarding subsidizing students from our parish. The policy of the Diocese is as follows:

"In order for a family to receive a supported tuition rate for the next school year, the parents must meet the following requirements:

1) be registered in this parish

2) be a contributor of record (weekly envelopes) in this parish

3) active participation in the life of this parish.

In other words, if you were not registered in the last year or did not contribute through the envelope system on a regular basis to the support of the parish, the pastor cannot sign the form from the school. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is the policy of the Diocese of Manchester.

FROM THE SALVATION ARMY: From a letter addressed to Jake Linxweiler, our Christian Formation Coordinator: "Thank you for the warm fleece blankets that your CCD class made for The Salvation Army to distribute to deserving individuals. We recently assisted over 1,250 families through our Christmas Assistance Program. In addition to food and toys, we provided new socks, underwear, mittens and warm blankets for all. Please thank your students for helping us to brighten up the lives of so many people in need. God bless you for your kindness."

REFLECTION OF THE WEEK

First Reading: Acts 13:14, 43-52

Second Reading: Revelation 7:9, 14b-17

Gospel: John 10:27-30

Sheep are not the most intelligent of animals. They often graze on hillsides that are too steep and they fall over on their backs. Once they have fallen over, they cannot right themselves. If they were to be left there, they would die. Because of this, the shepherd has to keep a constant eye on the sheep lest they place themselves in danger.

MUSIC CONCERT FOR THE FAMILY: Discover what a treasure we have in the Eucharist as you listen to a classical concert performed by Eric Genuis, world renowned composer and concert pianist, Sunday, May 16, at 2 pm at the Parish of the Resurrection, 449 Broad St., Nashua. Light refreshments will be served, and a free-will offering is greatly appreciated. For more information, contact Adriana Lee at 566-2741.

FROM RESPECT LIFE..."Mississippi participants in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure requested and received a refund after learning that the breast cancer research group has made donations to the Planned Parenthood abortion business and denies the abortion-breast cancer link. The Komen Foundation donated to Planned Parenthood $711,485 in 2005-06, and at least $726,445 in 2006-07 with the number of affiliates making donations rising from 19 to 25. MEET ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA! St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Manchester invites you to an upcoming special event. On Sunday, May 2, at 5:00 pm, Sr. Nancy Murray (actor Bill Murray’s sister!) will be giving a one-woman performance on the life of St. Catherine of Siena. The feast day of this great Doctor of the Church is that very weekend on April 29th. It is fitting, therefore, that we celebrate this very special time by learning more about her. Mark your calendars today and be sure to bring a friend. The performance is unforgettable!
