THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME + OCTOBER 25, 2009

On the Way....This weekend is known as Priesthood Sunday, a special day observed every year in honor of the priesthood. This day of recognition and affirmation is particularly important in this, the Year for Priests. After Communion, the Lector will read the following prayer on behalf of all parishioners. Msgr. Molan, Fr. Babineau, and I thank you for all your prayers.

A Prayer for Priests

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.

Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.

Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength

they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.

Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.

Amen.

REFLECTION OF THE WEEK

First Reading: Jeremiah 31:7-9

Second Reading: Hebrews 5:1-6

Gospel: Mark 10:46-52

The crowd wanted Bartimaeus to be quiet. They did not want him to rock the boat. But Bartimaeus refused to play their game. He insisted upon what he felt he needed. There are times in our lives when we must speak up and even shake things up for the sake of truth and love.
