TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME + JUNE 21, 2009
On the Way....
|
|
Father Roger Bilodeau will once again be here for weekend ministry while I take my annual vacation. I will return July 11. Last year I traveled to the Eucharistic Congress in Quebec City. This year I will stay put at home with Mom, take in a couple of visits with family and friends, read, listen to music, exercise(!), enjoy nature, etc. There will be someone available in the case of a funeral. No weekday Masses are scheduled. |
Also On the Way....
The Saturday evening Mass at 6 pm at St. Paul Church, Candia is suspended until next Fall.
Also On the Way....
The Office of the Bishop has contacted the New Hampshire of Health and Human Services. They have advised that precautions continue in our churches against Virus-A H1N1.
Also On the Way....
We celebrate Father’s Day this weekend. At the Celebration of the Eucharist I will remember and thank God for all the fathers of this parish as well as all of our dads who have gone to the heavenly Father.
PRAYER FOR FATHERS
St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty.
You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands.
Kindly protect those who trustingly come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes.
They look to you because they know you will understand and protect them.
You too knew trial, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through intimacy with God’s Son entrusted to you and with Mary, His tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as you have done.
Blessed Pope John XXIII
WEEKLY OFFERTORY: $6,311
PETER’S PENCE (Holy Father Collection) Today we recall the apostolic journey of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States and his call to us to cast the light of Christ upon the world. We can show our solidarity with the Holy Father and our suffering brothers and sisters abroad through our support of this week’s Collection. These funds allow him to provide emergency assistance to victims of war, disaster, oppression, and disease. Please be generous in today’s Peter’s Pence Collection.
SACRIFICIAL GIVING: St. Paul reminds us in the second reading that Christ died "so that those who live might live no longer for themselves". What we give to and do for others, we give to and do for Jesus!
GROUP WORK CAMP NEWS: Group Work Campers will attend the 4:00 pm Mass on Saturday, June 27th, and receive a blessing as we head to Port Jervis, NY, for a week of community service. We could not have made this trip without the awesome support of our parish. Thank you so much.
LOST AND FOUND: Please take a minute to look through the items on the table in back of church. We have two women’s sweaters, a winter hat, 5 pr. winter gloves/mittens, miscellaneous toys, key chains, books, rosary beads.
ORGANIST NEEDED: We are in search of an organist to help at weekend Masses. This is a paid position. Mrs. Helene Belanger, our regular organist, usually plays at 2 Masses per weekend. If you or anyone you know can step in, please let me know. There will be training and assistance from Mrs. Belanger
Is your marriage tearing you apart? Rediscover a loving marriage with a Retrouvaille weekend. Call Retrouvaille at 1-800-470-2230 or go to: www.retrouvaille.org
NH CATHOLIC CHARITIES: As of last weekend, our total in pledges and contributions totals $17,180.20. If you have not yet contributed to Catholic Charities, please do so as soon as possible. Any amount you can donate would be much appreciated. There are envelopes at the entryways to church, if you did not receive one in the mail. Thank you.
FROM RESPECT LIFE: The impact of an abortion is like a stone thrown into the water, sending out ripples of pain and hurt and devastation in all directions. Fathers of aborted children are the neglected victims of abortion who, once they recognize the moral and spiritual gravity of their action or inaction, may experience deep rage and "a gut-wrenching sorrow" so overwhelming, it can, if not healed, emotionally paralyze a man forever.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION NEWS
All children from K–10 must register for the Fall Christian Formation program each year. The registration does not roll over from one year to the next. Registration forms can be found at the entrances to church, on the back porch of the rectory, or at our website - www.stpeteraub.org. If your child is new to the program, please submit a Baptism Certificate, if not baptized at St. Peter Church. If you would like to volunteer to help with any of the following, please call Jake at 669-5134 and he will be in touch with you.
Grades K- 3 The children in grades K–3 attend classes during the weekend liturgies. We use a Lectionary Catechesis which is based on the Gospel of the week. Kindergarten students are not obliged to attend regularly. However, beginning with grade 1, students must attend classes on a weekly basis during the Mass, as the program for First Communion is a two-year program. The program for the school year 2009-2010 will begin on the weekend of September 26/27. Classes are held during all weekend Masses.
Generations of Faith: Grades 4–10 and parents. This program is designed for both parents and children. Parents who have children in grades 4-10 are asked to attend these monthly sessions. The adult session gives them an opportunity to refresh their memory on important matters of the faith as well as giving them the chance to share with other adults on pertinent issues of faith. GOF classes are held one Sunday a month from 4–6 pm. Our first session for 2009-10 is October 18. See you all next fall.
Confirmation Program: The Confirmation students will begin their two-year program on Sunday, October 4, 2009. Students are asked to attend the 11:00 am Mass, and class follows until 1:00 pm. Students must be registered in the program and must be registered members of the parish.

REFLECTION OF THE WEEK
First Reading: Job 38: 1, 8 - 11
Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 5: 14 - 17
Gospel: Mark 4:35 - 41
It is not always easy to have faith when we are facing the storms of life. In moments like that, it can be very helpful to reflect upon God who created a universe out of nothing and who holds it in being. If God can do all of this, then God can certainly deliver us from the chaos of the struggles of our lives.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS: Throughout the year we receive forms from Catholic Schools regarding subsidizing students from our parish. The policy of the Diocese is as follows:
"In order for a family to receive a supported tuition rate for the next school year, the parents must meet the following requirements:
1) be registered in this parish2) be a contributor of record (weekly envelopes) in this parish
3) active participation in the life of this parish.
In other words, if you were not registered in the last year or did not contribute through the envelope system on a regular basis to the support of the parish, the pastor cannot sign the form from the school. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is the policy of the Diocese of Manchester.
AUBURN GRIFFIN LIBRARY ANNUAL MULTI-MEDIA/BOOK SALE: Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 25, from 8-2 pm, and Sunday, July 26, from 11-2 pm. FYI: Sunday is Bargain Day, fill a bag with books for $4. We will be accepting books for all ages and stages; puzzles, games, CD’s, DVD’s, VHS, music cassettes, computer games.
