THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME + NOVEMBER 16, 2008
On the Way...
Your assistance in serving the parish is needed in several areas. Please consider serving in one of the following areas of liturgical life: Special Ministers of the Eucharist, Lector and Altar Server. Special Ministers of the Eucharist are needed especially at the 4 pm Mass on Saturday and the 8 am Mass on Sunday morning. A lector is needed for Sunday’s 11 am Mass. Altar Servers are in short supply at the 8 am Mass. The fewer the number available for a certain Mass, the more often they are asked to serve, and the less flexibility they have with their personal schedules. If you can volunteer for service, especially at one of the times suggested above, it would greatly ease the burden not only on those serving, but also on the scheduling tasks undertaken by Shirley, who is very considerate (sometimes to a fault) of your personal schedules and preferences.
Any registered parishioner, fully initiated, single or in a valid marriage and of at least 18 years of age can become a Lector or Eucharistic Minister. Any child of the parish who has been baptized and received the Eucharist can become a Server at the Altar. If you would kindly consider presenting yourself for this ministry you will be trained.
Candidates for Eucharistic Ministry are trained by Louise Deshaies; prospective Lectors by Shirley Delacoe; young or adult Altar Servers are trained by Jake Linxweiler. Please call me, or Shirley, at 623-5429, or e-mail us at stpeteraub@comcast.net if you are interested, or want more information.
If you can serve, remember that you will be serving the Lord Jesus Himself, at the Table of His Sacred Presence in the Eucharist. Thank you for giving this your serious consideration.

DO YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH HEATING
THIS WINTER? Late last year we received a donation from the Estate of Jim and Meg Stack, deceased of our parish. The stipulation was that the people of the parish who are in need would be the sole beneficiaries. So as we begin this heating season if you are having difficulty making ends meet, please call Fr. Dumont at 623-5429. If you are "skimping" on medical expenses or food to pay your heating bill, please call. If your budget is overtaxed because of limited income in the face of increased expenses, please call. Fr. Dumont will talk it over with you for a few minutes and determine the level of assistance. The matter will be held in the strictest confidence. Please remember in your prayers these benefactors, Jim and Meg. Please remember your parish in your will.

REFLECTIONS OF THE WEEK
Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31
Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6
Gospel: Matthew 25:14-30
One of the most important ministries in parish life is to help others discern the talents that they have been given by the Holy Spirit. People are often unaware of what they can do or how they are seen by others. By encouraging them and giving them feedback on their abilities, we give them the ability to bring to fruition the gifts that God has placed in their hearts.
REFLECTION OF THE WEEK
Adults, and especially children, are prone to a certain trepidation about the unknown future. The Scripture excerpts today can comfort us: we can think positive thoughts and do positive things that can allay our fears as we prepare for the unexpected! Prepare for the unexpected?? Sure! Come to the realization that we do not and cannot know certain things about our own personal future or the future of our loved ones or even of our country or the world. But we can live as though the outcome will be not only good, but worthwhile and exceeding our expectations. This life is not as good as it gets; yet if we do what is good and upright here on Earth, we are well on the right track. It is also good for parents to help their children realize that even adults who love them are not always in charge of everything, and that the unexpected can and will happen, but with Jesus, family and friends, we can get through almost everything.
